Anglican Consultation on Human Trafficking with a focus on children in Asia

From 3 to 6 November 2009 women and men from around the Anglican Communion gathered in Hong Kong for a four-day consultation on the human trafficking of children, with a particular focus on the girl child in Asia. The consultation was organised by the Office of the Anglican United Nations Observer and was supported by a grant from the Archbishop of Canterbury, with accommodation, board, and ground transportation generously provided by the Primate of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui, Archbishop Paul Kwong.

This reading at Evening Prayer appropriately set the scene for the first meeting of the Anglican Consultative Council's International Anglican Women's Network (IAWN) held at the Desmond Tutu Center in New York, 22–27 February 2009. This is the first time Provincial Links and the Steering Group have been able to meet since its formation in 1996 to discuss the work of IAWN and its potential impact within the Church and beyond.

International Anglican Women's Network (IAWN) Meeting Feb 2009

The International Anglican Women's Network (IAWN) will conduct its first formal meeting Feb. 22-27, 2009, at the Tutu Center at General Theological Seminary in New York City.

Building on the strong presence of the IAWN during the 2008 Lambeth Conference, women representing 26 of the 38 Anglican provinces are expected.

Statements from the UNCSW Meeting

February 26 through March 9, 2007, Anglican and Episcopal delegates to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW) meeting, at UN headquarters in New York City and nearby locations.

Anglican and Episcopal delegates have attended this annual event for the past four years, under the auspices of the Office of the Anglican Observer to the UN and Women's Ministries of the Episcopal Church. The 2007 event included 10 girls and 50 women representing 34 Provinces of the Anglican Communion.
